It only seems like 5 minutes ago that I was penning the last newsletter to you all, doesn’t time fly when you are enjoying your self!
I suppose that all of you may have read or heard of the latest news concerning the Tour de France this year. The weathermen over in France have predicted that the Mistral will be early this year and will cause havoc with the mountain stages. It is predicted that these strong winds will be blowing the Tour competitors up the Alp and Pyrenese stages, giving heavier riders an unfair advantage. So the decision has been taken to run the tour in reverse, starting in Paris on the 1st July and finishing in Futuroscope on the 23rd July. Raldip Kasterbis from the UCI said ‘Well, this will be interesting won’t it? For the first time in the Tour’s history we will be starting with the traditional jaunt round the Parisian streets and finishing with what would have been the Prologue. We think that there will be fewer riders abandoning this year too. Let’s face it, every cyclist that rides the Tour does the Prologue with a view to finishing. But how many, when faced with a minor obstacle like Avignon / Draguignan give up at the first hurdle? Also I did hear that one team were developing a skin suit that could also double as a sail as they too had wind of the situation. Clearly this would give them far too much of an advantage, but we couldn’t ban their new sail/skin as this is clothing, not a bicycle’.
I hope that this news will not ruin any plans that you may have made if you are going over to see the Tour this year. If there are any problems, the French Tourist Board have set up a special hotline on 0800 258963 which will be open from 8 O’clock till 12 O’clock on Saturday April 1st.

And Finally
Just in case you were wondering (1)
The Ed’s bit was an April Fools joke, but did any of you work out the Anagram? Raldip Kasterbis is not a real person! But watch out for the Sail/Skin, it might happen in a cycling club near you soon! After all, the Ed needs a great deal of help getting up any hill no matter how small. You never know, if I patent it, or register the name as a web site I might even make a bob or two.
Just in case you were wondering (2)
Yes I do have 10 free tickets for LA Fitness on a first come first served basis. Looking forward to hearing from you all soon.
See you all out and about some time, just don’t burn me off!
